Learning to fret notes correctly paves the way for smooth chord playing. These techniques are essential for every guitarist who wants to improve quickly without struggling physically.
It's never easy to open up a songbook and play all the chords in front of you. So the chords you will learn on this course are graded for both absolute beginners and anyone who can already play a little. You'll learn essential chords that enable you to play thousands of songs later on.
You'll learn all the techniques that make up the musically percussive style of strumming made popular by Ed Sheeran and others.
Strumming a guitar without solid sense of timing and rhythm will never sound good. Gaining this skill is the real key to making anything you play sound great.
This is an essential skill that has to start at the beginning. You'll learn to add dynamics, textures and more to truly enhance everything you play. Even with very basic technical ability, anyone can sound good with the combined skills of musicality, timing and rhythm.
This is a lot more fun than it sounds and is a skill that helps you learn faster and become a better player no matter what level you're at.

We get started right away with the mechanics of strumming and how it is supported by rhythm and musicality. there isn't anything too difficult at this stage it's really all about making sure you are comfortable with your instrument and familiar with the technical terms we'll use throughout this workshop.
Our second workshop focusses on the off-beat upstroke and how we combine it to the downstroke. More work on chords and rhythmn patterns too.
During this session you'll be practising what you've learned in the context of song rhythms and seeing how strumming patterns work.
This is the workshop where you learn to add percussive elements to your strumming and control the gaps in between the strums.
By the end of week 5 you should be able to strum a few chords - during this session you'll learn how to change between chords efficiently and musically. Your strumming should be sounding pretty good by now.
In this last session we practice performance strumming in the context of a song. The goal is to refine what we have learned and make a few mistakes too. By the end of play you should be able to play 4 chords and be able to follow musical rhythm patterns.
